  • Hi Eric,

    congrats on beta 5.
However, nowhere is stated how does one display CodeSmith window within VS.NET nor the name of custom tool to link xml file to.

  • The VisualStudioSample folder contains a project that demonstrates the VS.NET custom tool. Also, there is a readme.txt in the project. Basically, you need to run the register.bat file in the main application directory and then you will be able to use the custom tool (CodeSmithGenerator) and the CodeSmith Explorer AddIn (you need to go to Tools/Add-in Manager and select it).

    Thanks,

  • I can't seem to register the "VSUserControlHost.dll", I get a LoadLibrary ("VSUserControlHost.dll") failed- the specified module could not be found.

I'm using Windows server 2003 rc2, with visual studio 2003 and have only installed the 1.1 version of the framework.

My guess is the changed class "BaseCodeGeneratorWithSite" from the Microsoft.VSDesigner assembly is giving me problems...?

ah well the standalone program seems to work great.
  • I have the exact same setup at home. Unfortunately, (for me and you) I need to provide seperate builds of CodeSmith for VS.NET 2002 and 2003. If there is enough demand, I will post a .NET 1.1/VS.NET 2003 build of CodeSmith.

Aaaah. I've just read that readme.txt. The trick is, that register.bat shuld be run from VS.NET Command Prompt.
Anyways, I've just tried the drag'n'drop stuff.
    What can I say - G R E A T !.
