There are lots of ways to add custom methods. The easiest is to use a custom procedure. This is to be used when you need to add one manually. This example was done with 2.0.0 and I have not used the version

This looks correct to me. I have added a custom method to the web service, so I cannot speak to that process. You should not loose your changes as these files inherit from the core classes that are overridden
