Oracle netTiers support seems to be possible now.

    Dear NetTiers Developers!

I've just posted my edition of Oracle Provider that now can provide fields data. When connected through it, there are only one file that isn't created. It is the stored procedures xml file. Could we expect Oracle stored procedures support in the closest future ?

    Thanks,

    Ilya

    Hi,

I will take a look at your provider.  What's the difference in your provider and the existing one?  Do you handle things it didn't, like packages, etc?

     Hi Robert!

It's generating codesmith table if it's not exists and filling it with the values from the database schema. Didn't try it with stored procedures/packages.

Just connect to the plain database with old provider, try to browse it. Then try the same with updated provider. If you want any changes / additions please feel free to drop me a line.

Hi. I asked you to publish the source code and I didn't explain why, excuse me. In the original version (by Michael Toscano and Geoff McElhanon) there was a bug when converting database data types to c# data types. If the native data type is number, the resulting data type should by Decimal, or you'll get a conversion error (I am using a modified version of the generic client of nettiers, it almost can generate the entire web app for the hr schema in oracle 10g. Tell me if you are interested.

    Thanks.

    Hi There,

Are you using a standard released Nettiers Oracl;e template or is it downloadable separately?

Is it creating Stored Procs, etc and using them in the entity layers?

    Regards

    Fraser

    Hi Fraser,

I am using current .NetTiers release. It doesn't support Oracle for now. I am using genericClient, after some modifications I am able to run most of generated nunit tests.

    Ilya

The problem is when I use nettier to generate from Oracle database, all file will be generated except stored procedures xml file. Would you like to tell me the solution to solve it? Thanks so much.

    Hi, Fraser.

I am using generic client, version 2, it generates a file (replacing sqlite) and takes the sql from there (it's not complete, doesn't work fine for select with paging). I am thinking about creating the stored procedures, but i'm not sure.

    Bye.

I am working on .NetTiers version that can generate Oracle tiers. It still doesn't generate proper web site, but already make data access layer and nunit tests that are mostly passed, all except long fields blob/clob/etc and views. Didn't try it yet for stored procedures.

Maybe we can put our efforts together to make good oracle support for .NetTiers ?
