We recently released CodeSmith Generator 6.5.0, which includes many new features and improvements. One of the areas that we focused on was our existing Schema Providers.
Based on customer feedback, we added two new Schema Providers (VistaDB 4.x and SQL Compact 4) to Generator 6.5. We've kept the previous schema providers for backwards compatibility, so if you are using SQL Compacts 3.5 or VistaDB 3.x we haven't forgot about you!
On top of adding two new Schema Providers, we spent time updating all of the existing Schema providers to compile against .NET 4.0 as well as add compatibility with the latest database versions (E.G., SQL Server 2012, PostgreSQL 9.x, SQL Anywhere 12.x). This took quite a bit of work to test the various providers and we had to fix some bugs along the way. One of the big bugs we fixed was in how the Providers were caching configuration values indefinitely. This would mean that previously, you would have to restart CodeSmith Generator if you made a Schema Provider Configuration change.
CodeSmith Generator 6.5 is a major version update and requires a new serial key. You can upgrade your existing serial keys by visiting the following website. Also, don't forget to check out the Generator 6.x documentation and the upgrade documentation.
