Activating and Deactivating Generator should be as easy as 1-2-3. Below will outline the steps that should be taken and what can be done if you run into unforeseen issues.
*Remember before activating that CodeSmith Generator is licensed per user but can be activated on up to three machines (i.e. home, work, laptop, etc.) operated by that ONE user.*

This method should be used if you are needing to download Generator onto a new/upgraded system or are wanting to get the latest minor version(which is free) and you already own a license.
The above error occurs if you have an older license (4.x and below) and you try to use the latest download on the website*. To upgrade to the latest major version, please visit our upgrade form and enter in your serial number. You will then be taken through the upgrade process. Upgrading to minor versions (5.1, 5.2, etc) do NOT require going through the upgrade form. Just visit the download page to get the latest minor version for Free.

When you receive the above screen, you will then want to click on the details to see the full error. Without that information, solving the issue right away will be more difficult
The above error occurs when the license has been used on too many machines or the license shows to have more than one user associated with it. To resolve this error, please copy and paste the details of the error along with your serial number into an email and send to support@codesmithtools.com.
The above error will appear if you try to use a serial number as an activation code or if you were provided with an activation code and did not use it within 36hrs. For both issues, you will need to see 'Activating Manually' above and request an Activation Code.
Upon receiving the above screen, you would need to contact your local IT department in order to get the proxy server address. Once you get that information, you should be able to register. If you are unable to get that information then you would need to manually activate as described earlier.
* You can configure the proxy settings required by CodeSmith Generator the same way you would for Internet Explorer. For more information on how to configure proxy settings, please click here.
You can deactivate CodeSmith Generator 5.x by going into the 'About' dialog, (shown above) then selecting 'Deactivate'. Deactivating the license should be done when changing or upgrading machines. By deactivating, this will return the activation back to your account to be used again.
* Please note that the deactivation code you receive (shown above) is for your records only and is NOT to be used in place of your serial number when activating again.
